# Voices and languages

> Choose the languages for your video tutorials and a voice for each one. Ondaclip writes the narration, records it and adds subtitles in every language.

## Languages

You set a product's languages in `.ondaclip/config.yaml`:

```yaml
locales: [en-US, fr-CA, es-MX]
```

Currently available: `en-US`, `fr-CA`, `es-MX`. Each tutorial is filmed in
every language: the app opens in that language, the narrator speaks it and
the subtitles show it. That's why every `title`, `say` and `description` has
one entry per language.

You can also configure the browser that films: its language, time zone and
color scheme.

```

Set the time zone. Otherwise, times on your laptop and in a shoot (which runs in UTC) won't match.

## Voices

Voices are natural AI voices. On Ondaclip Cloud, Ondaclip runs them, so
there's nothing to configure. On your infrastructure, they run in your Google
Cloud project:

```

If you don't choose, each tutorial gets a voice based on its id, so it keeps
the same voice from one shoot to the next. To choose one, set it in the
tutorial:

```yaml
voice: { name: Kore }
```

The Corvalo tutorials in [see it in action](/docs/see-it-in-action/) use
three voices: `Kore`, `Puck` and `Charon`. A single voice speaks every
language of a tutorial.

By default, a product has two voices. Choose your own (1 to 4) in the
settings file. Each tutorial without its own voice gets one of them:

```

In the studio, **Settings → Languages and voices → Choose the voices** and
**Change the voice** on a tutorial's page let you listen to every voice, and
they open the pull request for you. The next shoot uses the new voice, and
only the narration and the edit are redone.

Each sample reads a sentence like the ones in a tutorial, in that
language's voice style.

## Writing for the voice

- One idea per sentence. The sentence sets the length of the shot.
- Say what the viewer does, using the words on screen: "click Invite", not
  "use the invitation feature".
- Read it out loud in each language. A translation that runs too long makes
  for a slow video.
